Sweet & Spicy

Yesterday I took a little detour from jam & jelly making and added something new to the lineup.  I dabbled in mustard.  I love mustard...all kinds...regular, spicy, brown, honey.

I started researching the different types of peppers.  I didn't want it to be too spicy.  I ended up using Banana Peppers.  It gives the mustard a mild sweetness and the perfect spicy kick.  Maybe a little more spicy than sweet but it is still good.  It plays well with crackers, pretzels, little smokies, whatever you want to dip in it or spread it on.

More than jelly...

So today I had two boneless, skinless chicken breasts that I wasn't sure what to do with.  I figured since I'm not doing jams or jellies today I would experiment with something.  So I got out the crock pot and did this:

I put the chicken breasts on the bottom and sprinkled them with a little bit of Italian Seasoning.  Then I chopped and added the following:

7 Green Onions
Parsley
Cilantro
Mushrooms
Grape Tomatoes - really only sliced them in half instead of chopping

Then I used the remainder of the Italian Seasoning to make Cilantro Lime dressing and poured just enough over the top to give it a little bit of liquid.  I put it on LOW for 7 hours.  There was just a hint of lime taste with the chicken.  It was fantastical.

Jalapeno's make it better

When you have this...

You make this...
Jalapeno Jelly is quickly becoming a favorite with Lone Star Jammin Jellies customers.  It's not too hot but has a kick to it along with a mild sweetness.  After you open it and store in the refrigerator, the flavors intensify into a warmer and sweeter goodness.

It's good for topping cream cheese and having with crackers or used as a dipping sauce for chicken, steak, pork chops, even chicken nuggets.

We be jammin'!

Welcome to Lone Star Jammin Jellies.  We make a variety of homemade jams and jellies because, well, because homemade is always better. Right now in our jelly line we have grape, cherry, jalapeno and candy apple. Our jam line currently consists of peach, vanilla peach, red raspberry, clementine orange and chocolate cherry. We even have blueberry preserves. We will be adding more flavors and fruit butters.
